What is nutrition counseling?
We offer personalized nutrition counseling, where each session is customized to meet your unique needs.
– Initial sessions consist of a review of your medical, health, eating, movement, and body image history. We will discuss what your goals are for nutrition counseling.
– In follow-up sessions, we will dig deeper, create a plan of care together, and continuously monitor and evaluate progress along the way.
Where do we meet for nutrition counseling?
Our office is located in Laguna Niguel, California, where we offer in-person 1:1 counseling sessions.
We also offer virtual sessions online via a secure Telehealth platform.
How often do we meet for nutrition counseling?
The frequency of our visits depends on what level of support you need. Typically, we see clients weekly to start and then spread sessions out to every other week as needed.
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes! We believe in accessible healthcare. We are in-network with Blue Shield of California, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Anthem, and out-of-network with all other insurances at this time. If you self-pay, we can provide you a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
We recommend calling your insurance and asking what they cover for nutrition services. Most clients are eligible for nutrition services at no cost. Please email us at valentina@yebonutrition.com for a step-by-step guide on how to verify benefits with your insurance company.
What are residency requirements for virtual sessions?
Due to state licensure laws, you must reside in one of the following states in order for us to be able to work with you via Telehealth: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
How much do nutrition counseling sessions cost?
Initial evaluation sessions are 60 minutes and cost $200.
Follow-up sessions are 45 minutes and cost $145.

What is Intuitive Eating?
Intuitive Eating is a non-diet approach supported by more than 200 research studies. It encourages lasting healthy practices by focusing on internal signals rather than body weight or external influences. The approach is based on 10 principles: ditch the diet mentality, honor your hunger, make peace with food, challenge the food police, discover the satisfaction factor, feel your fullness, cope with your emotions with kindness, respect your body, movement feel the difference, and honor your health with gentle nutrition.
Do you provide weight loss counseling?
We ask that our clients consent to a weight-neutral approach and understand that we do not provide weight loss services. We are here to work with you through body and weight concerns by talking through your lived experience and feelings. If you want to work on creating a more peaceful relationship with your body, food, and movement, we are here to help!
Do you work with children?
Yes! Valentina has experience as a Clinical Pediatric Dietitian specializing in pediatric endocrinology, feeding disorders, picky eating, malnutrition, and enteral nutrition in a variety of settings including La Rabida Children’s Hospital, the Illinois Early Intervention System, The Family Dietitians, and Yébo Nutrition.
For our pediatric patients, we require parents/guardians to sign a Release of Information so that we can connect with your child’s pediatrician and other healthcare providers.
Do you work with pregnant folks?
Yes! We offer pregnant folks with information, guidance, and support in all stages, from pregnancy planning to pregnancy to post-pregnancy.
Do I have to be vegan to work with you?
Absolutely not! We have vast experience in vegan nutrition, but because we are a very inclusive practice, we also work with non-vegans with equal passion.
Do you work with people with eating disorders?
We work with folks with eating disorders on a case-by-case basis. We require that clients with active eating disorders have a care team including at minimum a physician and therapist. We also require that clients sign a Release of Information so that we can connect with your physician and therapist as needed.
Do you provide professional mentoring for clinicians?
Yes. We provide professional mentoring for clinicians who want to expand their skills in pediatric feeding disorder (PFD), picky eating, ARFID, eating disorder nutrition for teens and adults, as well as vegan and plant-based nutrition counseling.
Mentoring is available for dietitians, SLPs, OTs, mental health providers, and other feeding and eating disorder professionals. Sessions may include clinical skill development, case discussion, professional growth, private practice support, and guidance on building a feeding or eating disorder caseload.

Do you provide case consultation and supervision for clinicians?
Yes. We offer individual and group case consultation and clinical supervision. Clinical supervision helps clinicians build confidence, refine clinical reasoning, and develop effective treatment plans. Ongoing supervision is available for teams or individual providers who want consistent expert support.

Do you provide lectures or trainings for clinical teams?
Absolutely! We offer evidence-based lectures, workshops, and professional trainings for clinical teams, academic programs, healthcare organizations, and private practices.
Training topics include Pediatric Feeding Disorder, picky eating, ARFID, eating disorders across the lifespan, anti-diet counseling, weight-inclusive nutrition care, and vegan/plant-based nutrition. Sessions are highly practical, research-informed, and designed to improve interdisciplinary collaboration and treatment outcomes.
